It
is estimated that there are in excess of 4 million CCTV cameras
in the UK. You are likely to be caught on camera approximately
300 times a day!
67%
of burglars would be put off burgling a house that had CCTV installed,
yet only 9% of the consumers had CCTV. (Micromark survey of 30
burglars and 1,000 homeowners)
Home
Office guidelines recommend a minimum 120% size image for identification
by CCTV to be permissible in court - this means that you should
provide a view (of at least) from the head to the knees to outwit
the arguments of a sharp barrister.

IP
and Network cameras
IP
and Network cameras allow video to be viewed over a network. The
cameras can be connected to PC's and Network Video Recorder's
(NVRs) to view and record cameras locally on a Local Area Network
(LAN) using standard Ethernet connectivity, i.e. CAT5/6 cable,
wireless Ethernet or power over Ethernet. Alternatively Camera
footage can be viewed and recorded remotely at multiple locations,
using a wide range of network configurations including the internet.
IP
cameras are rapidly growing in popularity due to their ease of
installation, flexibility, and low cost of ownership. Furthermore
they offer functionality not available with analogue cameras,
to include:
Integrated
video buffers that record pre and post alarm images (often eliminating
the need for local Digital Video Recorders)
Bi directional audio - including intercom functions, acoustic
alarms and audio alarm verification
Integrated Passive infra red detectors and/or digital video motion
detection, with ‘double knock’ to help eliminate false
alarms
Higher Megapixel resolution Integrated
scheduling of alarm setting, video access, and activity video
recording
Privacy options to prevent unauthorised remote viewing
Low cost pan tilt functionality
Seamless integration of CCTV of existing and new Intruder Alarm
systems across IP infrastructure
Network Video Servers
Network
Video Servers use the analogue video signals from standard CCTV
cameras and re-transmit them onto the LAN in the same way as a
network camera. Network Video Cameras are used in a number of
circumstances such as integrating an existing analogue system
into a networked system, or enabling specialised non-network cameras
to be used.
Taking
advantage of IP Network Video when installing a new system or
upgrading an existing system will ultimately increase the accessibility
and efficiency of your CCTV system by integrating seamlessly with
existing analog products and networks.
Bela
Interactive has the knowledge and experience to provide you with
a cost effective solution for all your networked video requirements.
